Day One:
We start the morning with coffee at Florence’s newest five-star hotel. Here, every square centimetre is about luxury, elegance, treating yourself well and believing that nothing is impossible. We arrive by car and begin our weekend by immersing ourselves in a world that can sometimes feel far removed from everyday life.
Then we get back into the car and head to Tuscany’s largest and best-equipped wellness centre, just a few minutes from Florence. During the last warm days of summer, we can relax in the pool around the cocktail bar, with perhaps our biggest decision being whether to order an alcoholic or non-alcoholic cocktail. Afterwards, there are countless pools, treatments and wellness areas to discover. The rooms and spaces seem endless: you can easily lose track of time relaxing on a swing bed, in the steam room, in a warm-water pool, under an infrared lamp or enjoying one of the massage facilities. We will also have lunch here.
After our bodies have been completely refreshed, it is time to discover what the Italian “Saldi”, or seasonal sales, have to offer. We head to Tuscany’s largest shopping centre to see what treasures we can find in stores such as OVS, Benetton, Carpisa, Intimissimi, Coin and many more.
With our shopping bags in tow – if we have any – we get back into the car, but we are still not heading home. Instead, we end the day in true Italian style with an aperitivo. And not just anywhere – above the rooftops of Florence! At Piazzale Michelangelo. From here, the entire city stretches out before us, and in the evening light and at sunset, Florence becomes even more beautiful. Afterwards, we return to the city for some well-deserved rest.
Day Two:
We spend this day in the heart of the authentic Tuscan countryside. We get into the car and drive to a tiny village where, whichever way you turn, you feel completely immersed in Tuscany – and you may never want to leave. After a leisurely walk filled with one beautiful view after another, we enjoy lunch with a panorama that you will never forget.
After lunch, we continue our journey by car and immerse ourselves in yet another Tuscan experience: a visit to one of Tuscany’s most famous wineries. The Florence-based family that owns the estate can trace its history back to the 14th century, and they are still involved in winemaking today. Their new headquarters is extraordinary in every respect.
From here, we return to Florence, where we enjoy an aperitivo at the bar of one of the city’s five-star hotels. It is one of my personal favourites – I simply love it. In the early 15th century, the building was home to the Medici family shortly after they moved into the city. Today, art can be found in every corner. And naturally, what arrives alongside your cocktail is just as special as the surroundings.
